The assembly of sub-assemblies is a crucial step in the journey from an individual plastic component to a ready-to-use product. Companies in the automotive, industrial, electrical engineering, household appliances and mobility sectors now need reliable partners who can not only manufacture plastic parts but also supply complete sub-assemblies ready for installation. Goletz GmbH combines plastic injection moulding, joining technology, assembly and quality assurance into an end-to-end manufacturing process from a single source.

Depending on the requirements, we undertake the assembly of simple components as well as the manufacture of complex assemblies comprising several individual parts. In doing so, plastic parts can be combined with metal components, seals, threaded inserts, springs, non-woven fabrics or other functional elements, and even electronic components for PCB assembly under Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) conditions. The result is pre-assembled systems that can be integrated directly into our customers’ production processes.

Efficient assembly processes through automation

Rising quality requirements and increasing cost pressures are making automated assembly processes ever more important. That is why we rely on bespoke automation solutions that ensure a high level of process reliability and consistent quality. Depending on the production volume and product requirements, we employ manual, semi-automated or fully automated assembly concepts.

Automated handling and inspection systems support the manufacturing process and help to detect faults at an early stage. This reduces scrap rates and improves the cost-effectiveness of production. At the same time, it enables large quantities to be manufactured reliably and reproducibly.

Plastic welding: the joining process for plastics

Alongside traditional assembly methods, plastic welding plays an important role in the manufacture of assemblies. Different welding processes are used depending on the material, geometry and area of application. These include, for example, ultrasonic welding, heating element welding, infrared welding, hot gas welding and laser plastic welding.

These processes enable permanent and robust joints without the need for additional fasteners. This results in cost-effective solutions offering high functional reliability and excellent component quality.

Welding plastic is a common joining process to permanently join 2 components together. The plastics used must have thermoplastic properties so that they can be repeatedly melted and subsequently solidify. Different welding processes are suitable depending on the requirements and special features of the plastic to be welded:

  • Hot plate welding is mostly used for large series production: both components are heated individually via a heating element and then joined under pressure.
  • Infrared welding is a common non-contact alternative to the heating element. Infrared emitters specifically heat the surface within seconds.
  • Ultrasonic welding is used especially for small plastic parts. Heating takes place through the impact of ultrasonic vibrations.
  • In hot gas welding, the weld seam is heated by hot shielding gas without contact and without oxidation of the melt. High-strength, homogeneous and particle-free welded joints are produced.
  • Laser plastic welding is also a joining technology without particle release and without surface damage. This process meets the highest quality standards and the exact laser beam offers precise welding results with an attractive appearance.
